Montenegro Shipping Lines to launch Looc–Malay route on March 5

Montenegro Shipping Lines Incorporated has announced the opening of a new shipping route between Looc, Romblon, and Malay, Aklan. The new shipping route is set to open on March 5, 2026, pending final approval from the regulatory bodies.

The new shipping route will improve inter-island connectivity between the provinces of Romblon and Aklan. The new route will also offer passengers an alternative way to travel to Caticlan, which is the primary entry point to Boracay Island.

The new shipping route is expected to improve the flow of passengers and cargo between the two provinces, according to the shipping company. The local economy and tourism sector are also expected to benefit.

The Looc–Malay route will operate daily with the following schedule:

• Malbog Port, Looc – 6:00 AM departure
• Caticlan Jetty Port, Malay – 3:00 PM departure

Passengers going to Romblon can take the early morning trip from Malbog Port. On the other hand, passengers going back to Looc from Aklan can take the afternoon trip from Caticlan Jetty Port.

Passengers are advised to be at the port of departure before the scheduled time.

Montenegro Shipping Lines has also released the official fare matrix for the new route:

• Regular Fare – ₱528.00
• Student (with valid ID) – ₱422.00
• Senior Citizen (with valid ID) – ₱377.00
• Children (3 to 7 years old) – ₱264.00

Discounted rates are available for qualified passengers who can present valid identification during ticketing and boarding.

Montenegro Shipping Lines is expanding its route network in major island hubs. With the start of daily trips between Looc and Malay in March, passengers will finally have a convenient sea route between Romblon and Aklan.
