Philippine Ports Authority Launches MPOS System at PMO Davao

The Philippine Ports Authority has officially rolled out a Mobile Point of Sales system at the Port Management Office in Davao. The new system began operating on February 9, 2026.
This significant move replaces the old manual cash ticketing process at the port. Officials have shared that this upgrade is part of the agency’s program to modernize its services.
Having but a simple goal in mind, to provide faster service, better tracking of payments, and clearer transactions for the public. The Philippine Ports Authority has also noted that the MPOS system promotes transparency as digital records make it easier to monitor payments and reduce errors.
Under the new setup, passengers and port users will now pay through the Mobile Point of Sales system instead of the traditional manual ticket writing, through this, transactions and fee collection for passengers are expected to speed up, minimizing longer queues.
On the first day of this system’s implementation, PMO Davao personnel were assigned to assist passengers on the usage of this system. Staff members were also present to help and guide passengers on how this new system operates.
How the Mobile Point of Sales System Works:
- The passenger approaches the cashier or assigned port personnel at the terminal.
- The staff member enters the passenger’s details into the handheld MPOS device.
- The system automatically calculates the required port fees based on the transaction.
- The passenger pays the amount due using the device.
- The MPOS records the transaction electronically in real time.
- A printed or digital receipt is issued as proof of payment.
The agency said that this crucial change is part of its broader efforts to modernize port operations across the country. This updated payment system is seen as a key step in the improvement of public service.
As the transition continues, Philippine Ports Authority officials are asking for the cooperation of passengers, understanding that adjusting to this system may take time, especially for those who are used to the manual process. And have assured the public that updates will be provided if further improvements are introduced at PMO Davao.
As more ports continue to go with current trends and shift to digital systems, travelers are encouraged to stay informed and follow official announcements. Modern systems aim to make port services faster, safer, and provide more efficient service for everyone.
