LTFRB approves 10% fare discount for Yanson Group buses during Holy Week travel

MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has officially approved a 10% fare discount for passengers traveling via the Yanson Group of Bus Companies during the upcoming Holy Week, specifically from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.

The benevolent initiative, aimed at providing financial relief to the commuting public amidst rising fuel costs, was granted through Board Resolution No. 206, Series of 2026. This resolution was formally approved and signed by the Board on March 23, 2026, in Quezon City, Metro Manila, and takes immediate effect upon its approval.

Covered Bus Companies and Routes

LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II confirmed that the discount covers operations of passenger buses under the extensive Yanson Group of Bus Companies across the country. The following companies are included, based on the Board Resolution and the group’s publicly announced operations:

• Vallacar Transit, Inc.: Servicing Visayas and Mindanao routes.
• Bachelor Express, Inc.: Servicing Visayas and Mindanao routes.
• Ceres Transport, Inc.: Primarily operating in Visayas routes, with some broader operations.
• Luzon Transport Express Mindanao, Inc.: Operating in Mindanao routes.
• Southern Star Bus Transit, Inc.: Operating in Visayas routes.
• R.L. Brothers Transport, Inc.: Operating in Mindanao routes.
• K.C.Y. Bus Company, Inc.: Operating in Mindanao routes.
• Kewan Transport (Mindanao), Inc.: Operating in Mindanao routes.
• Gaisan Tour Express, Inc.: Operating in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao routes.
• Gees Transport, Inc.: Operating in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao routes.
• Rural Transit Mindanao, Inc.: Operating in Mindanao routes.
• Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc.: Operating in Mindanao routes.

A Call for Bayanihan Amidst Economic Challenges

The Yanson Group of Bus Companies proactively informed the LTFRB of its intention to implement the fare reduction. This move aligns with the national government’s call for ‘Bayanihan’ during the observance of Holy Week, as stated by the bus firm. The initiative is a direct response to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr.’s appeal for public cooperation to mitigate the economic impact of Middle East tensions, which have led to sharp increases in petroleum product prices.

The rising fuel costs have prompted the government, through the LTFRB and under the guidance of DOTr Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Z. Lopez, to distribute fuel subsidies to the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) sector. This fare discount further complements these efforts, directly benefiting commuters.

LTFRB Lauds Yanson Group’s Initiative

Chairperson Mendoza commended the Yanson Group for their proactive stance, emphasizing its positive impact on public welfare. “We in the LTFRB recognize and appreciate the benevolent gesture of the Yanson Group of Bus Companies in extending assistance to the riding public,” said Chairperson Mendoza.
