Cebu-based shipping giant Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, Inc. has officially implemented its third upward rate adjustment effective April 11, 2026. The price increase comes as the maritime industry grapples with the volatility of global oil markets and a declared state of national energy emergency.

According to the advisory released by the management, the adjustment is in accordance with MARINA Advisory No. 2026-15. This directive from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) permits shipping operators to apply a cumulative increase of up to 40% on existing rates as a contingency measure.

Impact of energy emergency

The shipping line cited the rising global fuel costs and the state of national energy emergency as the primary drivers for the price hike. The management emphasized that this move is necessary to ensure the continuity of essential sea travel services without compromising safety or quality for its passengers and cargo clients.
