Montenegro Shipping Lines launches new Looc–Caticlan ferry route


New daily service between Romblon and Aklan aims to improve passenger travel and cargo transport in Western Visayas
Montenegro Shipping Lines Incorporated has officially launched a brand-new ferry route that will traverse the seas and connect the municipalities of Looc (Malbog), Romblon, and Malay (Caticlan), Aklan, starting March 5, 2026.
The maiden voyage of the brand-new route will be operated by the M/V Reina Quelita, which is operated by the shipping company based out of the province of Batangas. The launching of this brand-new route is yet another step towards strengthening the connectivity of the seas and the islands of Western Visayas.
Based on the available information, the brand-new route will be more direct for the people of Looc, Romblon, and Caticlan, Aklan. The latter city is one of the major entry points to the beautiful and popular Boracay Island, making the brand-new route more important for the growth of the tourism industry and for the people living in the area.
The brand-new route also has the potential to be used for the movement of goods from one province to the next. The enhanced connectivity will be beneficial for the people living in the area, as it will be easier for them to move from one place to another.
The ferry service will operate daily between the two ports. Below are the announced schedules for the route:
Trip Schedule
- Looc (Malbog), Romblon → Malay (Caticlan), Aklan
- Daily departure: 6:00 AM
- Malay (Caticlan), Aklan → Looc (Malbog), Romblon
- Daily departure: 3:00 PM
Passenger Fare Rates
- Regular Passenger: ₱528.00
- Students (with valid ID): ₱422.00
- Senior Citizens (with valid ID): ₱377.00
- Children (3–7 years old): ₱264.00
Cargo transport is also available on the route, which will allow the transport of vehicles between the two ports. The rate depends on the kind and size of the vehicle to be transported.
Examples of the rate charged for the cargo transported are ₱420 for bicycles and ₱1,680 for motorcycles, but the rate charged for larger vehicles and trucks depends on the measurement of the length of the vehicle.
The establishment of the Looc-Caticlan route has provided another route that will be used within the central part of the Philippines.
