President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has declared 15 local holidays to be observed in March 2026 throughout the country. The proclamations were signed and published officially with the intent to recognize the founding anniversaries, cultural festivals, and commemorative events in various parts of the country.
These local declared holidays will be applicable only to a particular area rather than the entire country. Thus, the residents and workers will get a non-working holiday on the declared dates. It is worth mentioning that the declared local holidays are distinct from the previously declared national regular and special non-working holidays.
Here is the full list of the 15 local holidays declared for March:
- March 1 – Muntinlupa City Charter Day (Muntinlupa City)
- March 2 – La Union Day (La Union)
- March 7 – Tagum City Day (Tagum, Davao del Norte)
- March 8 – Davao de Oro Foundation Day (Davao de Oro)
- March 9 – Sarangani Province Day (Sarangani)
- March 10 – Bogo Cityhood Day (Bogo City)
- March 11 – San Carlos City Day (Pangasinan)
- March 12 – Boac Town Day (Marinduque)

- March 23 – Romblon City Foundation Day (Romblon City)
- March 25 – Cry of Candon / Ikkis ti Candon (Candon, Ilocos Sur)
- March 31 – First Mass Day (Southern Leyte)
Each of these celebrations represents an essential date in the calendars of their respective areas, whether it is the founding of a city or a celebration that is an integral part of the history of an area.
Local celebrations and holidays are usually declared through a presidential proclamation to acknowledge celebrations that have significance to certain communities. This provides people in these areas with an opportunity to join in the celebrations and have a break from school and work in their respective areas.
These celebrations may only be relevant in the aforementioned areas, but they add to the rich fabric of celebrations in the country. People and businessmen in these areas are well-advised to pay attention to the dates of these celebrations since they may influence the flow of traffic and the operation of government offices.
