The Guimaras Island Transport Multipurpose Cooperative (GITMPC) has officially announced an adjustment to its fare structure for Jordan Ferry services, citing the persistent challenges posed by the ongoing global fuel crisis. The new rates are scheduled to take effect on April 7, 2026.
According to a statement released by the cooperative, the decision to implement the price hike was made to ensure the sustainability of ferry operations. The transport group emphasized that rising fuel costs have made maintaining safe and reliable services increasingly difficult, necessitating a balance between operational costs and commuter affordability.
Updated fare matrix
The revised fare matrix introduces different rates for cash payments and card-based transactions, as well as a new Nighttime Fare implementation for trips scheduled from 08:00 P.M. onwards.
| Category | Cash Rate | Card Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Fare | ₱40.00 | ₱36.00 |
| Discounted (Student, Senior, PWD) | ₱32.00 | ₱32.00 |
| Nighttime Regular (08:00 P.M. onwards) | ₱50.00 | ₱45.00 |
| Nighttime Discounted (08:00 P.M. onwards) | ₱40.00 | ₱40.00 |
Policies on discounts and rebates
Commuters are advised that the 20% mandatory discount for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) and the 10% rebate cannot be used at the same time. The cooperative clarified that whichever value is higher will be applied to the transaction.
GITMPC expressed gratitude for the public’s continued support and understanding as they navigate these economic adjustments to maintain vital transport links between Iloilo and Guimaras.
