Southwest monsoon triggers widespread sea trip cancellations in Batangas, Mindoro, and Visayas ports

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has announced the suspension of several sea voyages as of 12:00 PM on August 7, 2026, due to adverse weather conditions brought about by the Southwest Monsoon. Travellers are advised to check the status of their trips before heading to the terminals, as the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and local government units have enforced “no sail” policies in several areas to ensure maritime safety.
While the PPA facilitates port operations, it clarified that the actual cancellation of trips is determined by the PCG’s safety protocols or the shipping lines’ compliance with MARINA regulations. When a “no sail” policy is active, vessels are automatically grounded for the safety of passengers and crew.
