Tropical Storm Maymay: Sea travel cancellations reported across Mindoro, Palawan, and Leyte

Sea travel across several provinces in the Philippines has come to a halt as of 12:00 PM on August 5, 2026. The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) have implemented cancellations following the adverse weather conditions brought by Tropical Storm Maymay and the prevailing Southwest Monsoon.
Regional Breakdown of Cancelled Trips
According to the latest advisory from the PPA, the following port management offices (PMO) have confirmed the suspension of sea operations to ensure passenger safety:
PMO Mindoro
- Port of San Jose: MV SAINT AUGUSTINE DE UBON (Route: San Jose to Semirara to Caluya to Libertad).
- Port of Lubang: All trips suspended due to a No Sail Policy issued by LGU Lubang.
- Port of Puerto Galera: MV CITY OF BACOLOD (12:30 PM to Batangas) and MV ISLAND PANDAN 2 (03:00 PM to Batangas).
PMO Palawan
- TMO Culion: Escapade Tours and all vessels with a gross tonnage of 35GT and below.
- TMO Coron: Escapade Tours and all vessels with a gross tonnage of 35GT and below.
PMO Western Leyte/Biliran
- TMO-Maasin: MV Oceanjet 88 of Ocean Fast Ferries Inc. (Route: Cebu – Maasin – Surigao).
Official Policy on Trip Suspensions
The PPA clarifies that the agency itself does not cancel trips. Instead, cancellations are automatically triggered when the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) issues a “No Sail” policy, which legally prohibits ships from leaving the port. Furthermore, shipping lines may opt to cancel trips voluntarily, provided they comply with the terms of their Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) issued by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).
Travelers are advised to monitor official channels, including the Bagong Pilipinas and PPA social media handles (@ph_ports), for real-time updates and the eventual resumption of services once weather conditions improve.
