Sea travelers are advised to prepare for higher fare costs as SuperCat Fast Ferry Corporation announced the implementation of a 10 percent fuel surcharge, set to take effect on April 8, 2026.
In an official notice to its passengers, the Chelsea-led company cited the continuous and significant increments in fuel prices driven by the ongoing Middle East crisis as the primary reason for the fare adjustment. The operator noted that these market fluctuations have heavily impacted its operational viability.
Temporary measure and review
The ferry operator clarified that the additional charge is not a permanent fixture. According to the company, the surcharge is temporary and will be subject to regular reviews based on global fuel price movements.
“In order for us to continuously serve, we will be implementing a fuel surcharge of ten percent effective April 8, 2026,” the corporation stated, while also expressing appreciation for the public’s understanding and continued support.
