MARINA Issues Special Permit for M/V Starlite Saga on Batangas–Calapan Route

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has announced the issuance of a Special Permit (SP) to M/V Starlite Saga, enabling the vessel to operate on the vital Batangas–Calapan and vice versa route. The permit was officially granted on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, significantly enhancing transport capacity along this key maritime corridor.

This strategic move comes as a direct response to the temporary reduction in transport capacity following the suspension of operations by OceanJet vessels, which previously served the same route. The M/V Starlite Saga is authorized to carry up to 300 passengers, bolstering passenger mobility between Luzon and Mindoro.
