OceanJet to implement temporary fuel surcharge on select routes starting March 16

Leading fast ferry operator OceanJet has announced that it will implement a temporary fuel surcharge on several of its key routes effective March 16, 2026. The company cited the ongoing and consistent rise in fuel prices as the primary reason for the adjustment.

In an official advisory, the shipping line stated that the additional charges serve as a temporary contingency measure to manage the impact of fluctuating market prices. The management emphasized that the surcharge is not a permanent fare increase and will be removed once fuel costs stabilize.

Adjusted fares for select routes

Effective March 16, 2026, passengers traveling on the following routes will see updated ticket pricing:

  • Cebu – Ormoc v.v.: Tourist / Open Air at PHP 1320; Business Class at PHP 1900
  • Cebu – Maasin v.v.: Tourist / Open Air at PHP 1320; Business Class at PHP 1900
  • Maasin – Surigao v.v.: Tourist / Open Air at PHP 960; Business Class at PHP 1,440
  • Cebu – Getafe v.v.: Tourist / Open Air at PHP 540; Business Class at PHP 960

OceanJet clarified that routes not listed in the announcement will maintain their current fare rates. However, the company noted that this status is subject to change depending on future fuel conditions and operational requirements.

Commitment to service

While acknowledging that the price hike may be inconvenient for passengers, the company reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe and dependable sea travel. OceanJet is urging travelers to rely only on official communication channels for inquiries, including their verified Facebook page, authorized ticketing offices, and official customer service hotlines.

Further updates regarding fuel surcharges will be provided to the public as the situation develops.
