Sea travel suspended in Puerto Galera as Tropical Storm Maysak approaches

Maritime operations at the Port of Puerto Galera have encountered significant disruptions as of July 3, 2026, due to the presence of Tropical Storm “MAYSAK” (formerly identified as “Henry”). The adverse weather conditions have prompted the suspension of several scheduled trips connecting Mindoro to Batangas.
Summary of cancelled trips
As of 7:00 PM, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) reported that the following vessels at the Port of Puerto Galera were unable to proceed with their scheduled departures to Batangas:
- PTERIPPUS I: Originally scheduled for 2:30 PM
- CITY OF BACOLOD: Originally scheduled for 3:15 PM
- PTERIPPUS II: Originally scheduled for 3:45 PM
Advisory for travelers
The PPA has issued a reminder to the traveling public regarding the protocols for sea travel cancellations. Under existing maritime safety guidelines, trips are automatically suspended if the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) issues a “no sail” policy. Additionally, shipping lines may cancel trips to ensure compliance with the terms of their Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) issued by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).
Travelers are advised to coordinate directly with their respective shipping lines for refund or rebooking procedures. The PPA continues to monitor the situation under the Bagong Pilipinas initiative to ensure the safety of all port users and passengers.
