Starlite Ferries Inc. has officially introduced its newest addition to the fleet, the M/V Starlite Gratitude, a brand-new roll-on/roll-off (RORO) passenger vessel designed to bolster sea travel in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. Built by the renowned Kegoya Dock of Japan, the vessel represents a significant upgrade in maritime comfort and safety standards for the local industry.
Technical specifications and capacity
The M/V Starlite Gratitude, which carries the IMO Number 1073573, is the sister ship of the M/V Starlite Resilience. Measuring 67.60 meters in length and 15.30 meters in breadth, the vessel is engineered for stability and efficiency. It is powered by two Yanmar Diesel Engines with a combined output of 1,370 Kilowatts, allowing the ship to maintain cruising speeds of 13 to 14 knots.
Designed to handle both passenger and logistics requirements, the ship features a vehicle deck with a vertical clearance of 4.3 meters. It can accommodate a total of 12 buses or trucks and 9 cars, alongside a passenger capacity of 618 individuals.
A premium onboard experience
Setting it apart from traditional local ferries, the M/V Starlite Gratitude is an all-airconditioned ship, opting for modern climate-controlled environments instead of open-air economy sections. Passengers can choose from five distinct accommodation types:
- Recliner Seats – Ideal for short-haul comfort.
- Tourist Class – Standard shared cabin accommodations.
- Cabin for 4 – Private quarters for small groups or families.
- Cabin for 8 – Spacious options for larger groups.
- VIP Cabin – A premium suite for 3 passengers featuring a private bathroom (CR).
For dining and essentials, the vessel hosts Cafe Liberica, which serves hot meals, snacks, and beverages. Travelers can also visit StarBites, an onboard convenience store stocked with travel essentials and canteen items.
Targeted VisMin routes
According to the Philippine Ship Spotters Society (PSSS), the vessel is slated to serve critical routes within the Visayas and Mindanao areas. While its home port is registered in Batangas, the ship will primarily operate between Cebu to Surigao and Cebu to Dapitan. Discussions are also underway for potential service on the Cebu to Nasipit route and vice versa.
The introduction of the M/V Starlite Gratitude highlights the continued modernization of the Philippine maritime sector, promising safer and more comfortable voyages for the riding public.
