SURIGAO CITY, Philippines — The Surigao-based shipping firm Evaristo & Sons Sea Transport Corp. has officially expanded its maritime fleet following the acquisition of the Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) vessel, M/V Lady of Perpetual Help. The vessel was previously owned and operated by Medallion Transport Inc.

According to reports from the Philippine Ship Spotters Society (PSSS), this acquisition marks a significant milestone for Evaristo & Sons as it seeks to strengthen its passenger and cargo operations across the Surigao and Dinagat Islands. The vessel is the latest addition to the company’s growing fleet of RORO ships serving the southern Philippines.

A Brief History of the Vessel

The M/V Lady of Perpetual Help has a long-standing history in the maritime industry. Before arriving in Philippine waters, the ship was known as the Kyokuyo Maru during its service in Japan. It was later acquired by Medallion Transport Inc. in 2019, where it was renamed and integrated into their local routes.

Strategic Fleet Expansion

The move to acquire the M/V Lady of Perpetual Help is expected to improve connectivity and transport capacity for residents and traders in the Caraga Region. By adding another RORO vessel to its roster, Evaristo & Sons is positioned to offer more frequent schedules for both passengers and cargo transport.
