Montenegro Shipping Lines assigns M/V Reina Justiya to Zamboanga–Lamitan route

The Zamboanga-Lamitan and vice versa route will be served by Montenegro Shipping Lines M/V Reina Justiya, according to a press release sent by the company․ The new service is part of the company’s plan to maximize and increase the number of passengers and rolling cargo on the route, starting March 2, 2026․

There are a lot of residents, business owners and merchants from Zamboanga City and Lamitan City, Basilan that use the Zamboanga to Lamitan route on a daily basis to cross between the two cities for various reasons․ Montenegro Shipping Lines plans to station a vessel permanently for the route to make the service a more regular and reliable one for passengers sailing on the route․

For the first day of implementation on March 2, the following trips are scheduled:

Zamboanga to Lamitan

• 10:00 AM
• 4:00 PM

Lamitan to Zamboanga

• 2:00 PM

Beginning March 3, the company will implement a regular four-trip daily schedule.

Lamitan to Zamboanga

• 5:30 AM
• 12:00 NN

Zamboanga to Lamitan

• 9:00 AM
• 4:00 PM

The new timetable offers an increase in options and a more frequent daily service, so it is hoped that the waiting times for passengers will be shorter and the flow of traffic between the two cities will improve․

According to the advisory, the changes in schedule are meant to better accommodate the growing number of passengers and rolling cargo vehicles, including private autos, delivery trucks, and other vehicles of this type, who rely on the ferry service for their transportation needs․

Passengers are advised to come to the port early to give ample time for ticketing and boarding. As in most shipping companies, schedules are still susceptible to weather and operational considerations.
