Typhoon Basyang Update: FastCat Suspends Several Routes for Safety

The weather is currently causing some major issues for sea travel. Due to the effects of Typhoon Basyang, FastCat has officially suspended several of its routes. These cancellations started on February 6, 2026, and will stay in effect until the weather gets better.
The company decided to stop operations to keep all passengers and crew members safe. When a typhoon hits, the waves can get very dangerous, so it is always better to wait for calmer seas.
List of Cancelled FastCat Routes
If you were planning to travel on any of the following routes, your trip is likely on hold for now. These cancellations apply to both directions of each trip:
- Bulalacao to Caticlan (vice versa)
- Dumangas to Banago (vice versa)
- Dumaguete to Dapitan (vice versa)
- San Carlos to Toledo (vice versa)
- Cebu to Tubigon (vice versa)
- Zamboanga to Basilan (vice versa)
Since the weather is still unpredictable, there is no exact time for when these boats will start moving again. Everything depends on when the storm passes and when it is safe to go back out on the water.
Waiting for Clearance
FastCat cannot just decide to start sailing again on its own. They have to wait for a formal travel clearance from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). This ensures that the water is officially safe for large vessels to travel.
The company mentioned that they are watching the situation very closely. They want to get back to their normal schedule as soon as possible, but only once they know the journey will be comfortable and secure for everyone on board.
What Should You Do?
If you have a ticket for one of these routes, the best move is to stay home and wait for updates. Traveling to the pier right now might be a waste of time since the terminals are likely crowded or closed.
Keep an eye on official announcements for information about refunds or rebooking your trip. Most ferry companies allow you to move your travel date for free when a storm causes a cancellation. You can check for more updates on their official pages to see when the Coast Guard gives the green light.
Stay safe and dry while the storm passes! Check out our FastCat operator page for more information.
